Jay and Sheena's Wedding

August 2018, for more photos, see The Art Of Weddings Blog (Link). All photos courtesy of Mike Day from Art of Weddings.

Sometimes a client comes along with big dreams and very short timelines. Thankfully, that's something I specialize in, so Jay and Sheena were in luck!

Jay and Sheena became engaged in early 2018 and couldn't wait to celebrate the beginning of their lives together with family and friends. They wanted a full traditional South Asian wedding week in August 2018, just a few short months away. With no invites out and only a few vendors hired, they came to me with a vision of a beautiful, colourful and joyful week long celebration, culminating in joining their Sikh and Hindu families in a western inspired Hindu ceremony.

Jay and Sheena's Sangeet featured a traditional band and night full of dancing at the gorgeous Parkview Manor.

Throughout the whole event, Jay and Sheena couldn't stop smiling. Good food and dancing surrounded by loved ones, they had an absolutely charmed evening on the Thursday night of their wedding week.

The wedding was held on Saturday evening at the York Mills Gallery. Jay and Sheena did their first look at Sheena's parents house in the Bridal Path, then the bridal party hopped into a limo and snapped some gorgeous pics at the R.C Harris Water Plant. With 4 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen, it was quite a crowd!

Once done, they headed to the Gallery, where Jay participated in the traditional Baraat ceremony to enter the wedding venue.

Sheena walked down the aisle with her maternal uncle as is usual in the Hindu tradition.

Wearing the non-traditional white and incorporating a bridal party, this wedding had a beautiful fusion of cultures.

The happy couple, "tying the knot"

Fuchsia, Navy, White and Gold were the signature colours of the evening.

In-house florals hung over the dance floor, creating a canopy of wisteria.

The Mandap became a luxe DJ booth and the custom vinyl dancefloor opened after dinner for a night full of love, dancing and merriment!!

Guests danced the night away, and enjoyed late night snacks and Jell-O shots on the dancefloor.

For the cake, Jay and Sheena envisioned something a little different for their guests to enjoy. A gorgeous dessert table and a three tier chocolate cookie cake from Short and Sweet bakery. Guests devoured it! Both a unique and delicious take on the traditional wedding cake.

Congratulations, Jay and Sheena!
